Recently, a 19-year old Baylor University student named Jazz Johnson discovered a life-changing revelation on the calculator app.
You can swipe left or right to correct a number in your calculations.
You read that correctly. There is no need to remove huge strings of numbers from your calculations anymore. While the C option has always been there, for a lot of people that deals with big numbers or longer equations, having this swipe option really makes a difference.
The news went pretty viral after Johnson posted it on his Snapchat. A lot of people had virtually no idea that this was even possible on the phone.
What other functions or secrets does the iOS Calculator App have that we don’t know about? Here are just a few more tips that might have slipped under your radar.
Scientific Calculator
Most people fall upon this great function by accident, but by turning your iPhone sideways into landscape mode, your calculator becomes a complex scientific calculator. From here, you can access more advanced mathematical operations like logarithms, roots, trigonometric functions and other things that all math lovers appreciate.
Multi-task with 3D Touch
The iOS 10 update introduced 3D Touch. If you device is 3D Touch-enabled, you can now access the calculator’s Control Center shortcut. Inside, you can find the Copy Last Result feature. This now allows you to find the latest result you keyed in without having to enter the Calculator app to copy and paste it.
Repeat the last operation with a simple touch
To re-apply the last operator and constant you had within an equation, simply tap the = key again. As an example let’s say you punched in 1 + 1, the result would equal 2. If you pressed the = key again, it would add another +1 to it, making it 3. While this might not be incredibly surprising, you can save a lot of time with this function.
